First half of class is yang, second is yin.A blend of challenging and meditative poses set in a sequence with a focus on the breath to movement connection. Hot Mat Pilates is a hotter take on our classic mat Pilates class with the room infrared heated to 95-101° (don't worry, you get a cold lavender towel at the end!!). Low impact but not low effort, this mind-body exercise developed by Joseph Pilates incorporates intensive core and breath work with the addition of light weights, bands, and other props to provide a full body work out. Mat Pilates is all level and can be modified for any age, body, or fitness level and is also a great complement to weight lifting and other forms of exercise. The sound healing experience begins with each person lying down or seated comfortably. You’ll be guided through deep breathing and visualization, entering a dream-like state. By tuning into your breath, you tune into your body. As the experience continues, the sounds are introduced. Using crystal sound bowls, tuning forks, gongs, and chimes each person is immersed with healing sounds and frequencies radiating through the body. As you immerse yourself in sound and frequencies, you will naturally begin to dive deeper into your body and arrive in the present moment. Kettlebell Strength is a 45 minute strength practice with a strong focus on correct form to prevent injury and build muscle via progressive overload. It doesn't matter if you're totally new to lifting weights or a seasoned gym rat. Our trainers have over a decade of experience to help guide you to build confidence in technique and some muscle, too. This class translates well to traditional gyms for days you can't make it to Alma (and if that is a goal of yours)! Each class begins with mindfulness and breath work to drop down into the body before movement, followed by weight circuits/compound movements, and ending with a short cool down and a cold lavender towel.
